Giants Women vs Leeds Rhinos | Match Report

Lori Halloran's Giants Women were defeated in their first game of the 2024 Betfred Women's Super League by Leeds Rhinos 66-4.

Zoe Hornby got the scores rolling for Leeds in just the third minute, the first of her hat-trick.

A scrappy passage of play from the Giants allowed Caitlin Beevers on the short side to cross the line.

It was a familiar theme throughout, numbers lacking on the edge. Evie Cousins took advantage of this, unconverted by Enright.

14-0 down, Amelia Brown struck back for the Giants in a crash in the corner. Frankie Townend finding the angle too awkward on the touch line.

10 minutes of pure defensive effort went by too quickly for the visitors as Beevers and Cousins added to their points tally with Lucy Murray completing a first half brace.

Enright kicked the first half off with an unconverted try. Murray was soon back to scoring by shaking any defenders off in her path.

Hornby came back off the bench for a further 2 tries, with Cousins in for her third and final to round off the game.
